Bertie was born on June 22, 1946 to the late Mr. David and Kathleen Lights in Walterboro, SC..  God came and called forth the spirit of Bertie on March 3, 2017 at Colleton Regional Medical Center. 

Bertie leaves to cherish precious memories his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Trendell McMillon Lights; devoted children: Bertie Lights Jr. (Carol) of Ladson, SC, Hope Lights of Columbia, SC, David M. Lights (Debra) of Walterboro, SC. Brothers: Sinclair Lights (Jettie) of Columbus, GA; David Lights of Fayetteville, NC; Goddaughter Ashia Wiggins (Victor), and Godmother Ernestine Johnson of Walterboro, SC;  Sisters: Bellenia Lights and Ruby Lights of Walterboro, SC. Six Brothers-in-Laws, Richard Bodison and Marshall McMillon (Mary) of Walterboro, SC. Mark McMillon and Terry McMillon (Mary Ann) of Charleston, SC. Sisters-In-Laws; Anna Ruth Ponds (Tony) and Shirley McMillon of Walterboro, SC, Brenda Lewis (Irwin) of Charleston, SC. Eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
