Mr. Cleroy Lawton was born on November 22, 1944 to the late Willie and Artlee (Risher) Lawton in Islandton, SC.
Cleroy attended Ruffin Elementary School in Ruffin, South Carolina.
Cleroy Lawton met Cha-Cha McLucas in Newark, NJ and later brought her to South Carolina. They were united in holy matrimony on October 30, 1989. A union that lasted over 30 years.
Cleroy worked for Colleton County School System for many years until he retired in February 2010. He loved to go fishing and he was an awesome cook and everyone that tasted his cooking enjoyed it as well.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cha-Cha Lawton, mother and father, Willie and Artlee Lawton, three brothers, Jr., Lorenzo, and Glendale Lawton, two sisters, Gertrude Lawton, and Myrtle Risher, one brother-in-law, Lonnie Randell.
He leaves to cherish his memories of six daughters, Tasha J. Randell of Columbia, SC, Nicole D. Randell of Orangeburg, SC, Erica M. Jones (Andy) of Summerville, SC, India Brown (Chris) of Walterboro, SC., Marian McClurkin of Columbia, SC., and Sherry Jones of Millen, Georgia. Three sisters, Rosa Lawton of Walterboro, SC, Helen Douglas, and Margie Lawton of Islandton, SC., mother-in-law, Dorothy M. Randell of Walterboro, SC., three sisters-in-law, Bernadette Johnson of Walterboro, SC., Beatrice Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA., Luvenia Hodges of Smoaks, SC., two brothers-in-law, Richard Randell, and Victor E. Johnson, Sr. of Walterboro, SC., nine grandchildren, Timothy, Alquanna, Tre’Ion, Maliya, Zion, Jaymson, Trevon, Troy and Jadavian, Ranisha and Salquan Jones of Georgia.
