Mrs. Dorothy Mae Stephens Rose was born on November 9, 1943 in Ritter, South Carolina to the late James and Dorothy Stephens. On Wednesday, June 6, 2019 Dorothy answered her heavenly call at Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina
She was educated in the public school system of Colleton County. At an early age she was baptized and became a member of Buckhead U.M.C. Dorothy served on the Usher board until her health declined.
Dorothy loved to have a good time, rather she was sitting home listening to her old school jams or outside tending to her flowers, she was happy. She loved to laugh, and would always greet you with a smile.
Dorothy Mae was employed as a caregiver for numerous years. She enjoyed being a caregiver, especially her time as a nurse at Dr. Phillips office.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her life and memories her children, Betty (Frank) Battle, Evangelist Lisa (Lonnie) Askew and Mark Rose all of Philadelphia, PA, Casey (Angie) Rose of Ladson, S.C., Carol (Scott) Jones of Summerville, S.C., Deana (Stanley) Francis of Walterboro, S.C., Larita (Marcus) Rose and Travis Rose both of Charleston, S.C., Two brothers James A. Stephens of Ruffin, S.C. and Lucas Stephens of Manhattan, N.Y., One sister Gladys Stephens of Ruffin, S.C., A good friend Rita Montalvo of Bells, S.C., Special niece Harriett Rivers of Ruffin, S.C., 23 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Most of all she leaves her beloved Purvis Reddish, to remember the great times as well.
