Douglas Jones Obituary

Douglas Jones, son of the late McKelva and Mary Jones, was born on July 5, 1945 in Ashton, South Carolina.

He joined Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in his youth. He served faithfully as a Church Counsel Chairperson, Choir Member, Trustee Board Member, Finance Chair Person, Pastor Parish Relation Committee, a member of the United Methodist Men, a founding member of Arabian Temple #139 where he served as Past Master, HPP Shrine, Past President of Walterboro Shrine Club and a Mason of Sunlight Lodge #221 Walterboro, South Carolina.

 Douglas graduated from Ruffin High School in 1964. After high school, he obtained employment with Ashton Hill Corporation. Shortly there after, he met and married the late Peggie Jones, whom they shared thirty-three blessed years of love. Later he furthered his career at Westinghouse Corporation for several years. Once he decided to join the Armed Forces of the United States Army, he served for 30 years retiring as a Staff Sergeant on July 5, 2005.

 He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Rebecca J. Irving-Howard and brother, Curtis Jones.

Douglas leaves to cherish his memories three beloved children: Shirl Mole (Oscar) of Charleston, SC; Tamara Jones of Walterboro, SC; and Dondi Jones (Nikaya) of Riverside, CA; six grand children: Michael Antonio Addison Jr., Eurshula Donyell Addison, Malcolm Armod Addison, Miguel Antwaun Addison, Jared William Mole and Jordan McKelva Mole; two great grandchildren: Jamari and Chloe M. Addison, two sisters-in-law: Janice Fryar of Columbia, SC; and Janet Fryar of Houston, TX; three godchildren: Andrew Germaine McKinnon, Cedric Lingard and Jasma D. Fryar; Siblings: Dola Willis (Hezekiah) Summerville, SC; Hallbrook Jones (Carolyn) Atlanta, GA; Hartford Jones (Cynthia) Walterboro, SC; McCarthy Jones (Rosa) Orangeburg, SC; Gwen McKinnon (Lee O. Jr) Norcross, GA; Dale Pientek (Joseph) West Keansburg, NJ; Furman Jones Walterboro, SC; Sharon Gallman (Walter) Columbia, SC; Oranette Lingard (Leroy Jr) Ruffin, SC; Derrick Jones (Althea) San Diego, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special friend Edna Buckner.
