Elder Mack Goff, Jr.

Elder Mack Goff, Jr. 93 of Lodge, SC transitioned to eternal rest on June 9,2022

Mack Goff Jr. was born to the late Mack Goff Sr. and Queenie Sweat Goff on June 5, 1929 he was the youngest of 11 children, he lived in Colleton County most of his life

He has been a faithful member of Sykes Savannah United Methodist Church since he was 10 years old.

He attended the Colleton County Public Schools.

Mack enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17, proudly serving for 5 years.

After returning home, he attended and received a High School Diploma from Voorhees Junior College and one in Radio and TV Repairs.

After retiring as a Civil Engineer at the Naval Air Station in Beaufort, SC he received a B.A. Degree from Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC. and a Master of Divinity Degree from Erskine Seminary, Due West, SC. He was ordained a Deacon and Elder in the United Methodist Church and serve almost 20 years as a Pastor in the United Methodist Conference. In his adult life he served on and chaired many Boards and Committees in the United Methodist Church. He served as Lay-Speaker before accepting the call into ministry.

He also taught Language Arts at Colleton County Middle School for two years.

Mack was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Mack was joined in Holy Matrimony to Vera Riley on March 21, 1956 and they were blessed with two sons.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Vera and a grandson, Garry O. Goff II, of the home; two sons, Garry Ortagus Goff (Pauline) and Jason Robert Goff, three grandsons, Ortagus Antywon, Garry Jermel, and Ortagus II; one great grandson, Kitai; brother-in-law, Richard Riley of Arizona, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Mack was full of Love, Life, and Laughs!!!

Viewing will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 3-7 pm, Home Going Celebration Saturday June 18, 2022 11:00 AM at Sykes Savannah United Methodist Church.
