Helen E. Miles Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Pringle Miles, daughter of the late Lisco William and Miriam Stephens Pringle, was born July 19, 1942, in Ruffin, South Carolina, of Hudson Mill Community. The Lord sent His angels in the early morning hours of June 3, 2025, to peacefully escort her from her earthly home to her heavenly home.

Helen received her education in the public schools of Colleton County, attending Ruffin High School. At an early age, she joined Sykes Savannah United Methodist Church, where she remained a faithful member until she relocated to New York with her beloved son, Elvis Fryar, in search of greater opportunities for a better life.

She worked for many years as a live-in housekeeper before securing a position as a packer at Scandore Paper Box Company, where she faithfully served for 25 years until her retirement.

Helen was always known as the quiet and peaceful one among her six siblings, a truly loving soul that could only have come from God. Her life was centered around loving her family and ensuring her son, Elvis “mother’s boy,” was always cared for.

After living in New York for many years, Helen returned to South Carolina to reside with her son in Walterboro. There, she became an active member of the Walterboro Senior Center, where she enjoyed participating in games, arts, and crafts. She also generously volunteered her time at the center, receiving an award for outstanding service and a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of her dedication.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents; her sisters, Minnie (Charles) Grayson and Ruby Joan Pringle; and two brothers, Jeremiah Pringle and Vervin Pringle.

She leaves to cherish her memories with one devoted son, Elvis Fryar; one sister, Mildred (the late Dan) Steward; and one brother, Campanella Pringle, all of Walterboro, South Carolina.

She is also survived by one aunt, Vera Stephens of Brooklyn, New York; a host of nieces, including a special niece whom she visited in Petersburg, Virginia, Yolanda Greene Pringle; her honorary daughter, Cheryle Fryar; and an honorary granddaughter, Antonette Fryar. She was also the proud grandparent of two dogs, Remmy and JuJu.

Please Keep the Miles family in your prayers.

Please leave the family a note of Condolence, light a candle of remembrance, or order a floral remembrance piece.  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.  And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. John 14:1-4
