In loving memory of the late Hessie Lee Deal, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Spells, who was born on August 12, 1928 in Parker’s Ferry, South Carolina.

She departed her earthly life on January 9, 2026 at 9:50 pm at Pruitt Health Nursing Home. Her belief in God was strong.

She was a quiet, yet a kind woman. She was also known as “Mama Hessie” to many. She also loved cooking and sewing.

Hessie worked for over 20 + years at Black Street Elementary School.

She served on the Missionary Board at St. Paul CME until her health started to decline. She loved the Lord and her belief in God was strong.

Hessie is preceded in death by her son Robert Frasier Jr. also known as “Bucky”; husband Ezekiel Deal; granddaughter D’Anna Elaine Deal; siblings, Roosevelt Spells, John Henry Spells and Clara Mae Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her previous memories: daughter Sandra E. Stroman (Terry) of the home; three special devoted nieces Doris K. Calloway of Walterboro, SC,  Josephine  Singleton (Leviticus) of Walterboro, SC, Mary A. Davis of Charleston, SC. And a host of nieces, nephews; a very special daughter, Althea Wilson (Teddy) of Georgetown, SC, that shared and cherish her memories.
