August 05, 2019, Janice "Pennie" Summers Privately answered her call and took flight to be with the lord. She was born February 10th 1953 in Colleton county to Dorothy Summers - Doctor and Lawrence Ford.
Janice attended the schools in Colleton County and graduated from Colleton High School in 1970. She then attended Benedict College and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha and received her business administration degree. She also received her teaching certificate from Wheelock College in Boston Massachusetts. In 1975 she started her career in New York City working with the city, the county and the state and Webb Real Estate. Upon moving back to Walterboro, South Carolina she worked with several lawyer offices. She started her successful business, Pennie’s Fabric. In 2002 she started teaching in the Colleton county school system and continued in the Allendale county school system until she retired in 2015.
Janice enjoyed her retirement by being the treasure for her Benedict Alumni, volunteering at nursing homes, being involved with children, and traveling across the country. She enjoyed teaching on a missionary trip to Africa. She also had an amazing green thumb and love to thrift store shop. She was a faithful worshiper of many churches throughout her life; faith outreach, New Life United Methodist Church, Progressive Church, and others.
Janice leaves to cherish her loving memories a dear and devoted father Lawrence of Colorado Springs Colorado; A sister, Constance Tammy doctor of Columbia South Carolina; A brother Anthony Junior Doctor of Brooklyn, New York; One niece; Le Trina Doctor; Three nephews; Nicholas Doctor, Christopher Doctor, and Tabias Lemons of Columbia South Carolina; One great niece; Truth Doctor. Four great nephews; Joshoua Doctor, Nicholas Doctor Jr., Terrace Doctor, and Mika Doctor; A host of like brothers and sisters to her, relatives and friends.
