Jimmie Ray was born on October 27, 1950 in Walterboro, SC. He is the son of the late Alton and Edna Ray.
He was educated in the school district of Colleton County. He graduated from Colleton High School and furthered his education by receiving his Associates degree from Denmark Technical College in Radio and TV Repair. Jimmie served on the Electronics Servicing Advisory Committee of Denmark Technical College.
Jimmie was employed with Robert O. Collins and later with Republic Services for 36 years; while there, he was selected as “Employee of the Year."
He joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age. He was the chairman of the Trustee Board and Brotherhood Committee, President of the Senior Usher Board, member of the food bank committee, and member of the Pastor’s Aide committee. Jimmie was frequently called upon to provide maintenance and equipment support to the music department.
Jimmie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Patricia Ray and to this union one child was born.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Stacie Ray Taylor (Cleve) of Austell, GA; two grandchildren, Stephan and Cameran Taylor; one sister, Lucille Bethea of St. Paul, NC; two sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special mention to Thomas George, Jimmy Rutledge, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brown, Sonny Massey, Ricky Mays, and the staff at Waffle House.
