And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
Mr. John Larry DuBois Sr., affectionately known to some as “Uncle John” and Rev to others, was born on March 12, 1950, to Mr. Jasper R DuBois and Inez Lingard DuBois, beginning a life that would be a testament to the power of faith, love, and community.
John's educational journey took place in the public schools of Colleton County, laying the foundation for a life of purpose and service. He worked tirelessly in the logging industry as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, demonstrating his unwavering work ethic from an early age. His dedication to his craft earned him over 20 years of service with the South Carolina Department of Transportation, a milestone that showcased his commitment to excellence. As a life member of King David Lodge 21, John embodied the values of brotherhood and compassion.
John's passions were a reflection of his adventurous spirit and creative heart. He found solace in hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature's beauty. His skillful hands were also adept at carpentry, a hobby that brought him joy and allowed him to craft items that would be treasured by loved ones. John's infectious smile and warm demeanor made him a beloved figure, and his love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life. He shared his faith with humility and grace, inspiring countless individuals with his testimonies of God's goodness.
On September 19, 1971, John was united in holy matrimony to Penny Breland, a union blessed with four beautiful children: three daughters and one son. This loving family was built on the principles of love, respect, and devotion.
John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jasper and Inez DuBois, and two beloved sisters, Rebecca Martin and Annette Aiken, all of whom left an indelible mark on his life.
As we celebrate John's life, we remember the profound impact he had on those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity, cherished by his three daughters: Karen Johnson of Charleston, SC, Cheryl DuBois of Goose Creek, SC, and Tarsha DuBois of Summerville; one son, John Larry DuBois Jr. of Walterboro, SC; one brother, Lee DuBois of Summerville, SC; one sister, Carolyn DuBois of Jacksonville, FL; two aunts, Reba Lawton of Ruffin, SC, and Candy of Ruffin SC; twelve grandchildren: Victor, Va’Shon, Victoria, Amber, Tyleek, Simone, Shakeria, Michelle, Myasia, Quadejah, Davion, and Jaleel; and eleven great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss him. John's life was a shining example of what it means to live a life of purpose, to love unconditionally, and to leave an enduring legacy of hope and inspiration.

Please leave the family a note of Condolence, light a candle of remembrance, or order a floral remembrance piece. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whether I go ye know, and the way ye know. John 14:1-4
