Memories, love, and laughter are the three words that best celebrate the life and legacy of Joseph “Joe” Wayne Jones Sr. Born on September 2, 1959, in Colleton County, South Carolina, Joe was the beloved son of the late Leon Jones and Catherine B. Jones.

 

He received his formal education in Colleton County and attended Ruffin High School.

 

He worked for many years as a cook at various restaurants, The Lumber Mill and the board of Disabilities. He was a master griller and loved to cook.

Joe dedicated many years of his life to helping others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). His work reflected his deep compassion and unwavering commitment to care. Even after retiring, his desire to help never stopped—whether through a kind word, a hot meal, or simply showing up for those in need, Joe’s heart for service was ever-present. Joe was a warm and loving soul, known for his willingness to help others. His passion for cooking and making people smile brought happiness wherever he went. His joyful spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Joe was a faithful member of Praise Tabernacle Church in Ruffin, SC.

Joe was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: His devoted wife, Barbara L.B. Jones of Islandton, SC; His Children: BriAnn Jones, Joseph Jones Jr; His grandchildren: Divac, Ivyanna, Londyn, and Zaria Williams; He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Queenie Jones-Dobbin (George) Jacob “Jake” Jones, Cheryl Jones Reid (Late Leanders Reid 6/3/25); He also shared the love of two aunts; Louise Henderson and Vera Goff. He is also survived by a large extended family, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who were like family to him. His sisters-in law and brothers-in-law: Herman Breland, Joe Willie Breland, Melvin Breland (Tammy) Clara Hodges (Johnnie), Mary Breland, Mildred Breland and Catherine Breland, Lorraine and Bessie.

 

 

Celebration of Life Services for Joseph Jones Sr. are as follows:

Service: Wednesday, July 9, 2025  11:00 am
