Mrs. Marilyn Virginia Matthews was born on December 25, 1934 to the late Robert and Margaret Moultrie.
Marilyn graduated from Colleton High School. She used her skills in doing a lot of private duty, along with her cleaning services to local dentists and doctor’s offices.
She found working with the youth at the late great Wesley United Methodist Church. Working with young people was her passion. Ms. Matthews became “Momma” to many of the church and community’s kids.
Ms. Matthews was preceded in death by Robert and Margaret Moultrie (Parents), Clemon Moultrie (Uncle), Margaret Hillsman (Sister) and her beloved son, Darrill Matthews.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters, Denise (Roosevelt) Landry, Kiesha (Kevin Gay) Matthews; sons; Terrill Matthews, Christopher Matthews and Minister Rodney Cobb. Along with Several grand daughters she raised and nurtured Kenyatta Matthews, Novonah Matthews, Marleina Matthews, Dashana Skanes, along with two grandsons; Tyree Landry and Kavon Gay and granddaughter; Harmony Matthews whom Ms. Matthews took care of growing up and was able to travel from Atlanta numerous times to stay with her until the very end. A host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Extended family/neighbors; Georgette and James Frazier who was always there through the years and special thanks to Minister Vera Bodison who has been with the family forever.
Please leave the Family a note of Condolence, light a candle of remembrance. Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me.
