Emorse Beddard was born on October 31, 1936 in Round O, South Carolina to the late George and Claudia Mae Beddard. He was educated in the Colleton County School system and graduated from Colleton County High School. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
In 1956, Emorse relocated to Cleveland, OH and on July 12, 1957, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Janie V. Cockrum. To this union, 4 children were born; Robert, Ronald, Sondra and Reginald.
Emorse joined Galilee Baptist Church in Round O, SC and was baptized in the Edisto River at an early age. He supported the church throughout his life. He was an avid fan of Gospel Music. Some of his favorites were the Mighty Clouds of Joy’s “Nearer My God to Thee”, The Canton Spirituals “Father, I’m Coming Home” and “Heavenly Choir” and Willie Rogers’ “When the Gates Swing Open”.
Emorse possessed remarkable work ethic, always encouraging the younger generation to work hard to achieve their goals. It was his desire to see his children, grands and great-grands excel in life and pursue their dreams and aspirations. He was their biggest “Cheerleader” and advocate.
After 30 years of service, Emorse retired from LTV Steel, formerly Republic Steel. He was also a phenomenal mechanic and soul proprietor of his own mechanical garage from 1962 until 2019 when his health began to fail.
He loved to travel. It was nothing for him to jump in his car and drive to South Carolina, New York, California many other destinations. Just yell “Road Trip” and he was ready!!
On April 22, 2021 at 8:00 am, he succumbed to God’s bidding and transitioned peacefully from this world. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Woodrow and Rogers Beddard and sister, Henrietta Dicks.
