Mr. Henry Lee Fryar, Jr., second oldest child and first born son of the late Henry Lee Fryar, Sr. and Pinkey Dubois Fryar was born December 12, 1921 in Ruffin, SC. He entered into eternal rest on Monday evening, May 29, 2017 (Memorial Day) at his home in Ruffin, surrounded by his loving family. He was the patriarch of the Fryar Family.
Henry Lee was a life-long member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Assistant Treasurer for many years. He was blessed to be the oldest male of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church family.
He was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably from December 1942 through January 1946. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal World War #2 Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, APT Service Medal, and Philippine Liberation Medal. He was employed by Edisto/Coastal Lumber Company for approximately 65 years.
Henry Lee was join holy matrimony to Annette F. Stephens on December 23, 1942. To this union, six lovable children were born. What a blessing---seventy-four and one half years of marriage.
Henry Lee's found memories will cherished by loving and caring wife, Annette S. Fryar; six children (in numerical order) Mary A. White (Isaiah) Ruffin, Rev. Johnnie L. Fryar (Marilyn), Walterboro, Dea. Tony R. Fryar, Ruffin, Virginia Manigo (Rudolph), New Carrollton, MD, Debbie L. Fryar, Ruffin and Cherly D. Fryar, Lanham, MD; a dedicated brother, Harvey E. Fryar (Ozene), Ruffin, two sisters-in-law, Resa Lene Walker, Brooklyn, NY and Ruth Stevens, Queen, NY; eight grandchilden, (in numerical order) Tanya, Keith, Kisha, Angela, Tamika, Megan, Maurice and Dwayne (who was raised in the home) (who was raised in the home); nineteen great-grandchildren seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Henry Lee was preceded in death by brothers Eddie (Muff) Fryar, Willie (Bill) Fryar, and sister Ruby (Sweet) McMillan.
