Julius Reid was born on Jan. 5, 1945 in Charleston, SC. He was the son of the late Benjamin Frank and Addie Belle Reid. He graduated from Colleton High School, “Home of the Wolverines,” in 1962 and later attended trade school for heating and air, which lead him to start his own business, Reid’s Heating and Air, working for 40 years.

Julius accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at Life Up Jesus Tabernacle under the leadership of the Late Pastor Mary E. McKay which he served for many years. His joy was to sing and pray.

On June 6, 1965, Julius was joined in holy matrimony to Hilda Blakeney.

Unto this marriage two children were born. He was also blessed with a son.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, Hilda Reid of Walterboro, SC. Two loving daughters, Donna Burnett (Ivan) of Bronx, NY and Julie Hodges (Donell) of Summerville, SC , and a son Danny Thomas of Walterboro, SC; one sister, Yvonne Bristow (Rustine) of Lithonia, GA; two brothers, Ben Simmons (Joyce) of Round O, SC and Joseph “JJ” Reid of Mauldin, SC. He also leaves his grandchildren: Kadijah Overton of Bronx, NY,  Erica Overton of Greenville, SC,  Jillian Bryant (Tesfa) of Summerville, SC, Dasia Payne of Manhattan, NY, Lamont Kittrell of San Antonio, TX, Aleshia Kittrell of Walterboro, SC, Danny Jr., Staci, and Kimberley Thomas of Roanoke, VA. He also leaves a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

 Two brothers preceded him in death: Capt. Ronny Reid and Benjamin Reid.
