Mr. Richard Magwood Obituary

Mr. Richard Magwood, known by many as Ricardo was born to the late Quincy B. Magwood and Rosabell Osburne Magwood on April 27, 1932 in Round O, South Carolina.

He was raised in a loving home by his parents with his siblings. He was preceded in death by two of his sisters - Marie Magwood Nelson and Marie Lillian Magwood, and five of his brothers—Chester Magwood, Burley Magwood, Clarence Magwood, Milton Magwood and Scipio Magwood.

He was educated in the Colleton County public school system. At an early age, he moved to Miami, Florida where he used his love for cooking to become a world-class cook and eventually a restaurant owner. The consummate businessperson, he also owned a laundry mat. He later became a driver for the Department of Social Services, but most of all, being proud of his cooking skills, he returned to what he loved to do  becoming an employee at the Fork Gas Station sharing his passion.

He may not have finished his formal education, but the wisdom that God gave to him to share with family and friends outweighed it all.

In the late 1970’S Richard moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to assist his brother with his auto mechanic business and senior citizens transportation business.

By the grace of God, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Murdock and they were married on September 14, 1984. When they married, Richard became a father to Durrell and Tyne and eventually the beloved grandfather to seven grandchildren! Although he was a quiet person, he loved his wife – “Honey” with all of his heart, his family, his friends, and his New Life United Methodist Church family members.

Richard leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Dorothy Magwood of the home, his daughter, Tyne Denise Robinson (Andrew Finney – Fiancé) of Philadelphia, PA, Durrell Murdock (Mildred) of Philadelphia, PA; his brother – Quincy (Elaine) Magwood, Jr. of Windsor, New York, a sister, Mabel Williams of Round O, South Carolina; his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Brenda Magwood, Ernestine Magwood, Lacie Magwood, Sue Magwood, and Carolyn Murdock; a beloved niece, Wilhelmenia Sanders (whom he called PUMPKIN), several loving nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

In memory of Richard, the family encourages all who knew him to do what they love to do, and to do it with their whole heart as Richard did throughout his life!
