Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Green was born February 6, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina. She was the youngest child of 3 born to the late Moses Smalls, Sr., and Victoria White. She was called home to eternal rest on Friday April 16, 2021.

Elizabeth “Lizzie” received her education from the Charleston County School System. After graduation she moved to Jacksonboro where she later met the love of her life Mr. Henry Lee Green, they were joined in holy matrimony on December 13, 1959. To this union 7 children were born. She loved working for the Lord. She joined Calvary AME Church at a pivotal time in her life. In the church she served faithfully as The Head Usher until her health failed. Sister Lizzie was bestowed with the honor of being called one of the Mothers of the Church, she was highly respected, loved and admired by many.  Mother Green was also known as “Sporty” for her sense of style and her no nonsense attitude.

Elizabeth “Lizzie” valued family not only was she an amazing wife and mother, but she was also an amazing Aunt, Sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family. She raised her children to always stick together, her famous words were “when one hurts, we all hurt.” She genuinely loved us all unconditionally and we will all be forever grateful for every lesson taught and every lesson learned.
