Ruthie Lawton Obituary

Ruthie Mae Pope Lawton was born November 29, 1951 to the late Azzie Lea Pope and Willie C Pope in Headland, Alabama. She was called home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glendale Lawton Sr. of Smoaks, SC, three sisters: Sarah Cook, Dothan, Al, Rosie Mae Pope, Dothan, Al, Willie Mae Brooks, Dothan, Al, two brothers, JC Pope and Frank Lee Pope both of Dothan, Al, and one grand-daughter Ashley Mixon, Ruffin, SC.

Ruthie was a very loving and selfless person. She gave tirelessly of herself to her family and friends. She unselfishly placed her life aside to care for her Mom and brothers when they were ill.

Ruthie attended West Side High School in Newark NJ, and graduated from Job Corp in the early 70's. While living in New Jersey, she met Glendale Lawton Sr. The two were married in June 27, 1980 and to this union had two sons. Ruthie also attending Roseville Presbyterian Church, where she served as head usher and bible studies teacher. 

She leaves to cherish her loving memory one brother Robert Lee Pope, two sons, Albert Lawton (Ericka) of Ruffin, Glendale Lawton (Crystal) of Walterboro, two grandsons, Jalen Lawton and Richard Williams, three granddaughters, Takita Lawton, Jasmine George (Shawn), and Kayla Lawton and one great-granddaughter Semaj Lawton; sisters-in-law, Minister Helen Douglas, Margie Lawton and Rosa Jean Lawton; brother-in-law, Cleroy Lawton. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
